For the crust:

  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 5.3 oz butter

For the filling:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3 cups cherries, pitted
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar


For the crust:
Put the flour in a bowl, add warm water, melted butter and the egg. Knead until obtaining a smooth dough, make a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Allow to rest for 30 minutes.

For the filling:
Mix well the walnuts, cherries, breadcrumbs and sugar. Set aside.

  • Then roll out the dough over a floured surface using a rolling pin and make a rectangle. Pour the cherry and walnut filling over the dough, leaving about 1 inch free. Roll the dough, making a long roll as a roll cake. Close the two ends so the filling doesn’t come out.

  • Put in a tray, brush with melted butter and bake for 30 minutes at 360°F. Take out of the oven and sprinkle some powdered sugar on top.
